Common Issues to Watch Out for When Applying for a UAE Visit Visa

According to Sapna Aidasani, Marketing Director at Pluto Travels, several common but avoidable errors can lead to delays or rejections in the visit visa application process. Many of these issues can easily be sidestepped with meticulous preparation.

1. Missing Parental Information for Minors

When applying for a visa on behalf of a minor (generally under the age of 18), it is essential to provide full details of both parents, along with written consent. Aidasani emphasized that “applications lacking this information are often not approved by immigration authorities.” This documentation ensures that the applicant has the necessary permissions for the minor to travel.

2. Multiple Applications for the Same Person

Submitting more than one visa application for the same individual can create complications. “It’s crucial to check if a previous or pending visa request exists before applying again to avoid duplication,” advised Aidasani. Multiple applications can raise red flags for immigration officials and may result in further scrutiny of your case.

Avoid Submitting a New Application Immediately After Exiting the UAE

Husham Kattingeri, Outbound Travel Supervisor at Regal Tours Worldwide, recommended waiting some time before applying for a new visit visa after leaving the UAE. “If you plan to return soon, it is advisable to wait at least a month or more before starting a new application. Applying right after exit can sometimes lead to complications,” he noted, emphasizing the importance of timing in your application process.

Updated Requirements for UAE Tourist and Visit Visa Applications

To enhance your chances of a successful application, make sure to adhere to the following updated requirements:

1. Confirmed Return Tickets

Aidasani noted that possessing a confirmed return or onward travel ticket is mandatory. “This shows that the traveller intends to leave the country before the visa expires,” she explained. Having a return ticket can also reassure immigration authorities of your intentions and reduce the chances of visa denial.

2. Proof of Accommodation

Applicants must provide documentation confirming their accommodation arrangements. This can include hotel bookings, or if you are staying with family, the address of your UAE host or a tenancy agreement of a UAE resident. A strong proof of accommodation reassures the authorities regarding your plans while in the country.

3. Financial Proof and Sufficient Funds

According to Kattingeri, travelers may be required to show proof of financial capability, which can be demonstrated through recent bank statements or sufficient cash on hand. “This is randomly checked at the airport,” he elaborated. “It is advisable to carry bank statements on your phone or have physical cash amounting to at least Dh2,500 to Dh3,000.”

Aidasani added that Indian nationals intending to apply should show a bank balance of at least INR 50,000 (equivalent to about Dh2,175) when submitting their visa applications.

4. Carry Printed Documents

In addition to a valid passport, Kattingeri emphasized that travelers should carry printed copies of key documents such as their return flight ticket, accommodation details, and proof of funds. “This additional step of carrying supporting documents helps demonstrate that travelers are genuine visitors and have the financial means to support their stay in the UAE,” he highlighted.

Key Documents Needed for a UAE Tourist Visa

To minimize the risk of visa rejection, applicants must ensure their documents are complete, accurate, and well-presented. According to Rikin Sheth, assistant vice president at musafir.com, one of the most common reasons for visa refusal is missing or unclear documentation. Therefore, it is crucial to review all submissions carefully before applying.

Typical requirements for a UAE tourist visa include:

  • A passport valid for at least six months.

  • A passport-sized photo that meets UAE specifications.

  • A confirmed travel itinerary, including flight and hotel bookings or the Emirates ID and tenancy contract of a UAE-based guarantor.

  • Financial proof, if requested, demonstrating that the applicant can afford the trip.
