Under the current rules, CPD cannot assist with federal operations unless it relates to crucial services, like ensuring officer safety or preventing public disturbances during those operations.

During discussions, Councilor Paul F. Toner pointed out the importance of ensuring that officers are not compelled into confrontational situations that could endanger them or escalate tensions with federal agents.
