E-gates are self-service digital immigration systems that facilitate a quicker transit through both departures and arrivals at Hamad International Airport. These advanced kiosks allow travellers to scan their valid passports or Qatar IDs (QID) for immediate verification of their travel information, eliminating the need for direct interaction with immigration officers.

Who can use the e-gates at Hamad International Airport?

Here are the categories eligible for e-gate processing.

  1. Step up to the e-gate kiosk and scan either your passport, Qatar ID (QID), or the Qatar Digital ID app. A screen above the scanner will guide you on how to properly scan your document.
  2. Once your document is verified, the initial barrier will open. Stand in the designated spot marked on the floor and prepare for a biometric scan. Be sure to remove glasses, face masks, or any items that might obscure your face.
  3. As instructed on the main screen, stand at the designated spot and look at the camera. Wait for the biometric scanner to record your eyes, and follow any instructions for fingerprint scans (if required). The main screen will guide you throughout the process.
  4. After your information has been matched and verified, the final gate of the kiosk will open, allowing you to pass through freely.

Note: Each e-gate can accommodate only one individual at a time. Travellers waiting in line should ensure they’re standing in front of the designated area, allowing room for those using the e-gates.
