President Tinubu Urges Respect for Immigration Laws Amid New Visa Regulations
In light of recent changes to visa regulations by the United States and the United Arab Emirates (UAE), President Bola Tinubu has called on Nigerians to adhere to international immigration laws. The U.S. government recently informed Nigeria about a revised visa policy, attributing these adjustments to two primary concerns: a notable increase in visa overstays by Nigerian nationals and difficulties in accessing applicants’ records. UAE’s Stricter Entry Conditions

For older applicants, the guidelines require them to provide a personal six-month bank statement that attests to a minimum monthly balance of $10,000 or its naira equivalent. These regulations have raised eyebrows among Nigerians considering travel to the UAE.
Despite these stringent measures, the Nigerian government claims it hasn’t received any formal communication from UAE authorities about any policy shift. Nevertheless, officials have confirmed that visa processing continues in what they describe as a “gradual and orderly manner.”
