Notably, it will close a loophole that previously allowed individuals, barred from giving immigration advice, to operate under “supervision.” While the specific amendments haven’t yet been published, we expect these details to emerge soon.
U.S. Involvement in the Rwanda Agreement
In an unexpected twist, reports have surfaced indicating that the U.S. has sent an Iraqi national to Rwanda, with plans to send additional individuals there. This particular case highlights how the U.S. may be stepping in to fulfill some obligations of the UK’s controversial Rwanda agreement, especially for individuals who cannot be safely returned to their countries. A U.S. embassy cable suggested that Rwanda’s motivation for accepting such transfers includes improving relations with the U.S. and aligning with the America First agenda.
