“I was caught off guard. There was no prior warning, and my fellow travelers were equally surprised,” he recounted, highlighting the collective confusion this new rule has sparked among tourists.

Manu hadn’t just stumbled upon this distressing information. After inquiring further, he discovered that the NOC requirement has been in existence for a while but is now strictly enforced due to increasing concerns about misuse for purposes such as human trafficking and tax evasion.
By the time Manu gathered this crucial information, he and his family were already in Pokhara, about 200 kilometers from the Indian embassy in Kathmandu. Faced with a dire situation, they found themselves pondering the worst-case scenarios.
“We spent two days in Pokhara anxiously wondering what to do if the embassy was closed on Saturday and Sunday. We even discussed alternate plans to return to Dubai,” he added.

Thabseer Ahmed, another Dubai resident, was caught completely off-guard, losing over Dh1,400 when he learned about the NOC requirement at the airport on his return from a recent holiday. “We found out about the NOC only at the airport while heading back from our holiday,” he recalled.
Unlike his friends traveling back to India, who faced no such requirements, Thabseer and his companions were not so fortunate. “Our flights were scheduled at 3 AM on a Sunday when the embassy was closed, leaving us in a lurch,” he explained, detailing the harrowing scramble to rebook flights.
Not only did he incur financial costs, but he also witnessed friends from the GCC incur losses upwards of Dh2,000 due to similar issues. The ripple effect of this sudden regulation is leaving travelers reeling and rethinking their travel plans.

Travel agents must provide clear directives about these new requirements to avoid complications,” he stated emphatically.
